Sometimes when I click to turn off the PC it will go through the motions and
then power off. Moments later it turns back on as if by magic! I have no
idea when this started but I have only noticed it for a week or so I guess.
Any theories would be teriffic.

Bit of a discovery is that it does not restart until I turn off the light
switch which happens to be on the same outlet as my HP printer(that is
currently hooked up to my computer). What I mean is, the printer's power
comes from an outlet that is connected to a light switch IE the light switch
has to be on for the printer to be on. When I turn off the lights my
computer turns back on. I guess the printer shutting off is sending some
sort of signal to the computer that for whatever reason, causes it to turn
back on? I did not have this issue on my old computer that was also running
XP. Does anyone have any theories short of changing power outlets for the
printer or disconnecting it from my computer entirely?

Possibly your network card has "Wake on Lan" Activated, and the printer is
sending a pulse of electricity enough that your motherboard or network
cable(If any) is detecting. Check your bios settings for WOL (Wake ON Lan)
and disable it and try that.
