Computer name problem

Hi,
I have a problem, not sure whether it is an XP or Exchange problem.
I run a VPN client into my company, when I log on to the exchange server my
PC sends the computer name then my user name which the Exchange server
rejects.

Example
b\xxxyyy where I only need the xxxyyy bit.

As I mention not sure whether it is XP or Exchange problem. I'm running SP2
with all relevant current patches.
The problem started after I created a mail account on a new server

There is a sign-on setting in the IE browser options that might be hitting that.

IE, tools, Options, Security tab, internet zone, "Custom Level" button, scroll down to the bottom for the sign-on settings.
