Computer Management Problem

Ken McDonald

I recently ran Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and it reported that I
had 8 open shares. The instructions for disabling them indicate that I bring
up Computer Management and right click on the share and choose disable. All
I have is "refresh" and "help". It's the same thing when I log in as
administrator. How can I remedy this?

Thanks,

Ken

Are you able to disable these shares manually via Explorer? For instance,
navigate to a folder corresponding to a share, go to File\Properties\Sharing
tab, and disable sharing from there.

Thanks for responding. This is a situation where I don't understand what I'm
doing and I am proceeding cautiously. I'm not sure how to tell if a file or
folder is actually being shared. Is there any danger if I post the results
from the Microsoft Baseline Analyzer or what the Computer Management Console
reads?

Thanks,

Ken McDonald
