computer logs off as soon as it logs on

When I start up my computer, it goes to a logon screen,
where I enter my login and password. I get a message
saying "logging in...". Two seconds later, before any
programs load, the computer starts logging off and goes
back to the original logon screen. Restarting in safe mode
has not helped at all. Does anyone know what I can do?

When you restarted in safe mode did you try using System Restore to take you
back to a time prior to when this began?
