Under System Properties-Computer Name I receive an error
stating: "The identification of the computer cannot be
changed because: - Networking is not installed or is not
properly configured."
I am running Win XP Pro and attempting to connect to an
NT4.0 Server based domain. I can recognize other
computers on the domain, but my computer remains
invisible to others. Other computers can ping mine and I
can ping them. Everything else on the system seems to
check out just fine except my computer appearing on the
network and accessing the file server. I thought the
issue might be a hyphen in my computer name, which I was
attempting to remove when I discovered this error.
