Can't Change Network Identification on XP laptop

In System Properties, under the Computer Name tab, the Network ID and Change
options are greyed out, and there is a note at the bottom that says "The
identification of the computer cannot be changed because: - Networking is not
installed or is not properly configured." It's a Toshiba laptop and I've
installed all their latest drivers, to no avail. I'm trying to join a new
domain (Windows Server 2003, several other workstations have joined fine),
and this one is still showing its Domain as the old one, which was on an NT
server that is no longer running. I need this laptop to be able to join other
domains and to change the computer name, and I can't. The networking seems
to work fine other than that, as I can access the internet and e-mail and
such. Thanks for any help you can offer, and let me know what other
information would be useful.

Hi,

1. Double click on the two computers icon in the system tray
2. Click on Properties
3. Install Client for Microsoft Networks
4. Install TCP/IP Internet Protocol

This should work.

you don't say if it is XP Home or Pro. You cannot join a domain with XP
home, You must use XP Pro.
