For the last few month we have had power outages, for a
brief minute. This turns off my computer, which general
stays on all the time. However, with this last outage,
when I turned the computer on Window XP loads as normal,
I get to set-up (for the users) I can ten click on anyone
of the users names. Xp them starts to load the setting
for that user then freezes up before it has been
completed. I can not do anything Ctrl/Alt/Delete -
nothing works. In fact I can not turn off the computer.
All I can do is reboot. i must go thru these steps over
10 time before I can finally get on. Once i am on
everthing seems to be OK. Does anyone have anyadvise as
to what I need to do to get back to normal. Thanks Monk

You might want to try a non destructive repair of XP. See the following
website for the step by step guide.

How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install

If a power outagee is a common occurence in the area where you live, you
might want to consider investing in a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply)
with a battery backup. It's only a matter of time until one of these
incidents leaves you with a PC that will make a good door stop.
