XP Freezes at start-up

I had a power outage and now I get the black screen that says select: Safe
mode, Safe mode with networking, Safe mode with command prompt or last
known good confiuration , start windows normally. And it has a countdown on
the bottom of the screen.

I tried both, "start windows normally" and "safe mode" and still XP freezes
when my computer gets to the XP logo screen at start up.

Anybody know how can I get around this, so that I can at least start my
computer so that I can make any changes or fix anything that needs fixing?
Everytime I start it up that's as far as I get, the XP logo screen

Thanks

Yeah I did try "last known good configuration" and nothing, like I said,
windows won't even boot up far enough to where I can get to da START menu or
anything like that, after I make my choice on the black screen and the XP
logo comes on the screen just like it does during a normal boot up, it
freezes so I can't get to no commands or menus or anything.

A power glitch that caused that much damage. The least you will need is a
repair install.
