computer freezes

when i attempt to log on to windows as administrator or to log off on any account the computer freezes & will not shut down or open windows problem resulted from a shut down after a power outage. i cannot access System restore from other account what do I do without losing all of my info etc.

Try tapping the F8 key upon starting computer,select,safe mode,enter as
ADM.,retrieve documents as needed,when selecting log-off,try switch user
or restart.To try to repair the problem,boot to xp cd,recovery,press enter
key for password,then at cmd screen type:CHKDSK C: /R When its thru,
type:EXIT Let xp restart and remove cd.
