computer freezes when receiving fax

My home computer will send faxes fine, but when
configured to receive faxes it will answer ok but then
when fax starts to come through it freezes the whole
computer. Ctrl/Alt/Delete is not even able to end the
task, I have to shut down and restart my computer. The
fax worked fine for sending and receiving in december
when I first got the computer but since january it has
been driving me mad.

It will be helpful to know what actually happened by seeing the event logs
generated.
Try looking into Event Viewer after the machine reboots. Are there any
printing/fax related events?

This is strange. Remember any software that you have installed from the time
it was working fine till date. Probably one of these is the reason. When the
machine becomes slow check the task manager to find out the process taking
the maximum number of CPU cycles.

If nothing works you may have to enable logging (which requires some
registry changes) to provide additional info to us. Russ Valentine (our MVP)
can send you the instructions and route your log files to us for analysis.
