Computer freezes when in internet explorer

I have a computer running windows 2000 with all the latest
patches, internet explorer 6, while accessing the internet
through the LAN, the computer freezes and requires a full
shut down and restart.
 
I have the same problem since january 5th. The server freezes every houre. Is there any known reasons for that and if yes, how do we get rid of that?
