Computer freezes frequently

In Windows XP Home Edition everything freezes about every 3 to 5 minutes for about 3 to 5 seconds at a time. It seems that just the monitor is freezing because when I am typing in the freeze, the words show up after the freeze. The problem is very annoying. Thanks in advance.

Hello

I do not know if you got any advice or help on this but I have the same
symptoms. Every once in a while, either my mouse cursor freezes and I cannot
do anything--even control alt delete does not work, and my monitor blinks and
goes black.
Any ideas?
