Computer Freeze - Maybe Video Card Drivers

My computer freezes and I think it has something to do with my video card.

At times the monitor gets a lot of colors all over it in front of what ever
program I have running.
When this happens I can't do anything, not even move the mouse.
So I have to reboot, however when this happens I sometimes may have to
reboot 10 times before I get things to work perfectly even though I select
"Use last known good setting" at the boot up.

During startup I can always tell if I have to reboot the computer because
the Windows logo that comes at the beginning has bunch of pink dots all over
it and it freezes as the left to right scroll is going and won't continue.

As an attempt to fix this I downloaded a new video card driver from NVidia
but that didn't help.
I also wen to http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm and ran the
scan.
It came up with no problems at all. Never happened before.
In the Device Manager there are no problems.

Could someone please suggest something I should try?
I don't want to have to reinstall everything.

Win XP Pro, Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS.

Thanks

Sounds like the Video Card is failing, and ready for replacement.
Especially, if you have the latest drivers installed for it.

What you are seeing is normal when it is failing; many different colors in
different parts of monitor, sometimes missing script, and parts of certain
windows;.
