computer error

Yesterday I started up the computer and got an error. I have constantly
restarted the computer and I kept getting the error. The only thing I can go
into is the safe mode. I haven't installed anything new recently and I have
uninstalled some of my programs but it still didn't work. Also, I did a
system restore to last week.

The error stated:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down
to prevent damage to your computer.

Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_NOT_EQUAL

If it is the first time you have seen this restart the computer. If it
appears again follow steps:

Check installation of hardware and software. If new installation ask
hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue disable or remove any newly installed hardware or
software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you
need to use safe mode to remove or disable components restart computer.

STOP: 0x000000D1 (0X8F197976, 0X0000000D, 0X00000000, 0XF85C6C85)

atapi.sys -Address F85C6C85 base at F85C1000 datestamp 41107b4d

Also, when I went into last known configuration. I got an error saying
BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER. I don't know what to do. I hope you can help me . Thank
You

I had this happen after the installation of a new mobo and a repair
installation of XP Pro. It became progressively worse. I uninstalled
every bit of software that I never use and uninstalled a newly
installed AVAST. Then I shut down properly, unplugged the computer,
and fired it up again. I have not gotten the blue screen of death
again.

I did nothing else, so some piece of software was not working well with
the new mobo and the XP Pro reinstall. My suspects: Zango toolbar
(which I had no idea was on my system) or AVAST.

Regards,
Judy
