When I turn on my computer nothing happens. The light
comes on but nothing else. The last time I used it
everything worked fine. I don't know too much about that
part of computer operation. If anybody can give me some
ideas of what to try or have checked on the computer I
would really appreciate it. Thanks.

One thing is to get down and listen to see if you can
hear your hard drive spinning up (pull the cover off if
you have to). Your hard drive LED (if equipped) should
intermittently flash. If neither happens, you need to
check the cables to the hard drive. Is the monitor turned
on or plugged in? Need more info.

Hi

you do not say how old your PC is, however if only the LED which indicates POWER is coming on then the Mainboard is failing POST (Power On Self Test). Sometimes this is accompanied by beeping to indicate the fault. You may have to open the box and try reseating a few things like memory or PCI cards. If this doesn't work it may need new parts like memory, processor or mainboard

Good Luck

If you do not hear any beep, it could be that your
motherboard lithium battery is dead (of old age?).
Replace the battery and see what happens (about AUS$4)

My guess is the CPU is unseated/toast. There is power to the motherboard
(light)but nothing to read the BIOS and perform the POST.
