computer crashes

I am running windows 98 second edition with ie6 sp1 and
all updates installed. The computer stops responding when
navigating a web page. This occurs when accessing windows
update page (v4) or scrolling or clicking. This problem
also occurs selecting different objects in the web page to
be redirected to another page. Any help with this problem
would be greatly appreciated.
