Hi everyone
In December 2005 i was given by the company i worked for at
that time a Fujitsu Siemens computer with windows XP2 installed on it. It
worked great until the middle of December this year then i started getting
problems with the Media centre and the ATI software that was installed on it.
I kept getting error messages saying the ATI or the Media Centre had
encounted a problem and needed to shut down. When it shut down the screen
went blank and all i could do was shut the computer down and restart it. I
logged onto the ATI web site and was advised to update my drivers for my ATI
software, Scaleoview T19-a software and Radeon X700 which i did. Again the
computer crashed straight away and in fact the problem got even worse then
before. I decided at this point to reformat the hard drive and install the
drivers disc to take the computer back to how it was when i got it. Halfway
through the drivers CD loading the screen went blank and i had to start again
and this happened again when i did it the second time.

The next time i tried to instal the software it worked
without a problem but the ATI software, Scaleoview T19-a software and Radeon
X700 software doesn't seem to have loaded. At this moment in time i have the
basic software installed until i can try and get this problems sorted. I have
contacted Fujitsu Siemens computers help and they have asked me to try and
install the software that is missing from there web site and see how it goes
and what error messages or fault codes it comes up with. I have no problem
doing this but i don't want to have to sit for 6 hours again while i try and
reformat the disc and reinstall the drivers again.
This is where i need help because
i want to do a disc which i can use to reboot the computer to the point im at
this moment before i start messing about trying to add software that i don't
think is going to work. Please can someone advise me how i can get a complete
backup copy of my computer which i can use to reboot from. I have two hard
drives one has about 6GB on and the other is spare so i could ether copy a
reboot disc to CD or DVD or i could just leave it on my spare drive and
reboot from there in safe mode if this is possible.
Regards
Alan

You sure thats a 6gb hd? thats extreamly small for a winxp drive?

To backup a hd, so that you have an exact copy would require third party
tools, eg Ghost or Acronis True Image, to name a couple.
