computer browser errors in Event Viewer...

Hello,

I wasn't sure where to enter this question, but here
seemed good. I have a strange situation that has been
going on since before I became the network technician for
this company. On our application server running win2k
server, that is not even a domain controller, we are
getting all kinds of browser errors in Event Viewer. Here
are a couple:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MRxSmb
Event Category: None
Event ID: 8003
Date: 12/4/2003
Time: 2:12:45 PM
User: N/A
Computer: TAM-APP
Description:
The master browser has received a server announcement from
the computer BILLING14 that believes that it is the master
browser for the domain on transport NwlnkNb. The master
browser is stopping or an election is being forced.
Data:

0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MRxSmb
Event Category: None
Event ID: 8004
Date: 12/2/2003
Time: 4:13:28 PM
User: N/A
Computer: TAM-APP
Description:
A request has been submitted to promote the computer to
backup when it is already a master browser.
Data:
0000: 00 00 00 00 01 00 5a 00 ......Z.
0008: 00 00 00 00 44 1f 00 80 ....D..€

0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

Again, this machine is NOT a domain controller. If you
turn the computer browser service off on the machine
listed in the first error (8003), then it will just start
occurring with a different machine. I've found articles
that say to go to the machine listed in the error and go
to the registry to hklm\system\controlset001
\services\browser\parameters and make sure IsDomainMaster
equals FALSE and MaintainServerList equals something other
than YES. I've tried AUTO, which seems to be a default
setting, I've tried NO, and I've tried FALSE. I'm not
sure what it should say, but I figure as long as it's not
YES, should be fine. That hasn't helped.

Even on the machines specified in the error, they are
getting tons of errors about the browser. Here are a
couple from a computer that seems to want to be a browser
master, but shouldn't be trying to be one.

itself to the master browser, but will no longer log any
events in the event log in Event Viewer.
Data:

Anyways, sorry for the long message, but I was hoping
someone might be of some assistance. If you are
interested in helping, but my message is confusing, please
say something anyways and I can try to explain the
situation better. Thanks.
