I have a few issues that are driving me crazy....
issue number one i was connected to the internet browsing ebay all of a
sudden an update message popped up but did not provide an option if i wanted
to install it or not . it just installed on its own!! when the installation
was complete again no option to restart , It just restarted on its own. when
My computer rebooted My firewall is gone and everytime i try to connect it
it says (ics) service not running do you want to start it. of course i click
yes then comes unable to connect to internet connection sharing/windows
firewall service. I check policy to turn it on from there it kicks back
error 2001 specified driver invalid

I reviewed this site and i found the Netsh Winsock reset which i tried. when
i reset the computer the firewall was back for a few secs then it went away
and again same issue this time it would not come back on at all
i downloaded ad-ware2007 to a flash drive tried to install it on my
computer and what did i get? error message not valid win32 application
my xp cd got cracked when i moved but i have the product code still so a
friend made me a copy of the cd. also tried to install that same error msg
not a valid win32 application

Can someone please Help me with this I dont know what to do???????

Hi
Given the multiplicity of your troubles I think that you would do better by
taking the computer to a Repair Center,
There is too much trouble and it looks like you are short of toll to repair
it,
Jack (MVP-Networking).

Thank you for the suggestion

I have patience its just that everything i have tried has not seemed to work
and I'm just looking for other options and maybe some input on what could be
causing the problem and how to repair it

It sounds to me like you've picked up a nasty worm or virus.
If I were you, my next step would be to boot up into Safe Mode and run
a complete virus scan on my computer.

application wont run: is there a specific way you have to load av software in
safe mode in order to run it?

That depends a lot on what AV program you are using. Some AV vendors
provide a stand-alone boot CD for these conditions.

You might also see if the "HijackThis" program will run in Safe Mode.
It will generate a report that you can submit to one of several
online forums or to http://hijackthis.de for an analysis. Once you
find what you're up against, a little research might find a way to
clean it up. As a warning, this program reveals everything and
almost all if it is usually good, so don't go "fixing" things if you
don't know what you're fixing.
