Complete PC Backup

I am running Vista Ultimate.

When I try to do a complete PC Backup, Windows gives me the following
message:

"The backup application could not start due to an internal error:

Server execution failed (0x80080005)

Please check your system configuration and try again."

I would appreciaate any advice anyone can give me regarding this
configuration problem.

What type of drive are you backing up to, internal or external? Are you
backing up a laptop system? Make sure that the AC adapter is plugged before
starting the Complete Backup wizard.

Hopefully, you have found a solution to your problem by now.

However, recently, I was also unable to make a Complete PC Backup after
several earlier successful attempts. The backup application could not start
due to an
internal error, server execution failed (0x80080005).

Finally today, I could track what was causing the problem: running the
"System Restore Point Cleaner" in McAfee QuickClean of the Security Center
2008!

Only by restoring a complete PC Backup I could overcome the problem.
A system restore by using a restore point did not resolve it, but instead
caused the error "access denied (0x80070005)".

I have notified McAfee of this problem as well.

I also have this problem but do not have a backup file to restore from. I
found running McAfee quickclean hung my PC everytime and caused 'chkdsk' to
run at startup. i contacted McAfee and disabling a few options stopped
quickclean hanging my PC but I can't get a Complete Backup to run.

Can anyway help me fix this. Is there anyway to reset whatever is bothering
Complete PC backup?

Apparently, you are not familiar with the Internet security center of McAfee.
That contains the Quickclean programme running separately of the virus scan.
The option within that programme "System restore point cleaner" ruined
everything. Now that I disabled that function "complete pc backup" runs
smoothely while the viruschecker is enabled. By the way, my microwave oven
runs fine as well.

Hi,

Although the comment of marz is not very helpful, the only way that helped
me out once I found out that Quickclean had deleted some important part of
the PC Backup programme, was to completely restore the system! Lucky enough I
had backed up my personal files.
Now, everything goes well (with "system restore point cleaner" disabled),
but it took a lot of time all together, I can assure you.
Success!

Anyway, Acronis worked quite nicely, price is right at $50
for vers 11 and so I'm happy. Thank you again.

Shoulda shopped around... but still it's a good deal at full price.

It seems this problem started with people in 07 and yet it's still going
strong. I can't do a full pc backup to my external drive. It does look
as if Mcafee's system restore point cleaner caused this problem .....
from what others are saying, but nothing I have done has corrected it.
I did try uninstalling mcafee rebooting and running the backup up again
and it still didn't work. If anyone has found the fix for this PLEASE
post.

I don't know about the fix for that, (and maybe google/MSN Search, etc. will
yield it) and ordinarily I don't like to post on a thread without staying
focused on a solution, but I have to say, ***don't trust backup compression
files to backup your data.*** If you do, you could be sorry when they
corrupt or you can't recover them.

The best and most reliable way to back up your data is ***to burn the data
(files, folders, docs, music, emails from OE, Win Mail, Outlook or Win Live
Mail, etc. pics to media.*** Even backing up to another hard drive which is
very convenient and popular, has its downside when and if that hard drive
corrupts. While we don't know how long the media lasts in years, and it may
not be forever, it's long enough so that when you pull it out if you've
burned your material to a DVD, what you see is what you get and you can
always retrieve it easily. It's quick and easy, and it sure is a way around
your glitch with Complete PC Backup.

Thanks for your reply, I do have an external HD and I do also backup my
pictures and things of that nature on dvds as well. The backup program
even lets me back up just the files. I would really like to basically do
a full system restore image of my computer ...programs settings
everything possible. I guess I will just have to find another program
for that it's just frustrating for something not to work as it should.

Trust me ... I have searched to no end and this problem has been around
since 07 there's no fix. I've posted on every forum with anything
mentioned about it as well as support from mcafee and microsoft.
Basically Mcafee's system restore point cleaner killed something
windows uses to do the back up but no one call figure out what to do
about it.

I understand the drive to fix a problem. I'm not suggesting you don't find
out how to fix it. One caveat about backing up to external HDs. They're a
real convenience, because they are plug and play and set up in seconds, and
come in all kinds of form factors and are including more and more storage
space, and I'm sure solid state is around the corner or possibly more of
them exist than I've come across, and prices will come down.

But make sure that when you un plug an external HD you use the "Safe to
Remove" icon in the notification area, because I've seen situations where
restarting boxes that they're plugged into requires unplugging them and
replugging their USB in order for them to be recognized and over time if
that "Safe to Remove" icon isn't used, they can corrupt.

I have another idea if someone doesn't come up with a fix. Normally I'd
help you search, but I can't do that now.
