complete freeze

have Windows XP Home edition Version 2002 service Pack 1 Intel 4CPU 2.4GHz 480MB of RAM ...I have a total freeze up nothing works, can't get it to respond by using Ctl Alt Del ,have to cut power to restart,, returned to vendor where purchased , they reinstalled Windows XP, still having periodalical freeze up ,sometimes 3-4 times an evening, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

A few suggestions

Possibly CPU overheating? Do you have SmartGuardian software or
equivalent (could be on install disk that came with Intel board) that
you can use to check fans/temperatures
Check you have latest video driver installed
Disconnect all peripheral equipment (ie scanner, printer, modem etc)
see if freezing still occurs
Try a different mouse

I had, and my computer froze at least one time every working session!

After removing these "viruses" my computer works as before!!!!! It has been up for more than a week now :-
