If you are an educator or student, you can purchase
an "Academic Version" of Microsoft Office. There are
no free downloads for Microsoft Office products.

You can open either WORD or WP in either program. You can
also save the files using the "save as" command in many
formats. As far as using one CD, it depends on what method
you use to burn the CD. CD-RW with drag and drop packet
writing is most problematical, you must have the same
burning/reading software on each computer.

If you email homework to the school I suggest that you use
the RTF universal text format. Both WORD and WP will open
RTF files without any problem.

They both create documents in different formats. However, when you create a
document in Word Perfect, click the File menu, select save as and in the
file type dropdown box, look for Word or Rich text, if it can save in either
of those file types, they can be opened in Word. Opening Word documents in
Word Perfect can be more problematic since you don't have control over how
others will save their files and I'm not sure Word has a Word Perfect
option. However, there is a viewer available that would allow you to read
Word documents, understand, it will only let you read them, not make any
changes to them:

are posted for everyone who accesses these boards, hence no personal

your real e-mail address as spammers use automated bots to pull e-mail
addresses from the properties of posted messages. You should use a fake
address. By the same token, people should not respond to users asking for
personal responses as no one can be sure these are not spammers hoping to
collect active e-mail addresses.
