I am currently using a Trios hard drive selector which allows my PC to boot
up on any of 3 installed hard drives (great product), using Windows 98
installed on each drive.

Will Windows XP allow me to install their OS on all 3 drives (installed in
the same computer)?.. or is there a problem with the hardware profile since
I will often be rebooting with a different drive? I will buy XP if I do not
have to purchase 3 editions for the same machine.

Thanks,
Jerry

It probably could be set up, but initially you may have to activate each
copy. The the only differences in H/W between each copy is the hard disk, so
activation may not be a problem.

The maintenance involved however would be a nightmare ( 3 lots of windows
updates !!!) etc

Technically it will be possible to make separate installations on each
drive (though I do not see the point). As far as activation goes, they
will be three successive setups on slightly variant hardware which is
within tolerance (see www.aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.htm).

According to a strict interpretation of the License it is not permitted
though. But that rather turns on interpretation: it is not clear if
'cloning' a copy of an installed system constitutes a new case of
installing it for example.
