Compaq Presario 6000 with no video

Hello

I've had a heck of a time with this one....here's what's happened....

The machine's video is out. You boot it up, and no video, yes, green
power light is on, and you can see some attempt at HD activity. I tried
a AGP video card, still no video. Tried a different known working
monitor, nothing worked. So, I attempted to reset the BIOS, and
unplugged all devices - still nothing for video. Yes, I unplugged
everything, including memory, cards, and IDE devices.

So, I started to think, it's one of two things, motherboard or CPU. I
ordered a motherboard last week, and I have the same result - my
machine doesn't work.

Any thoughts on me buying a CPU? I don't wanna keep spending money if
it doesn't fix my issue, so I really could use some good advice here...

If I order a CPU, I'm not quite sure what I can order, does anyone know
what a 6RPXE1 would use? I believe it's a p4 1.7 or 1.8, but don't know
the details beyond that.

TIA!
