compact flash and PMQ

Hello Everybody,
I am trying to get an pmq file for the target device. Here is the
hardware and BIOS setup senario, for the SBC (target),
1) floppy disk with MS DOS. drive letter A:\
2) Compact flash as primary master, with an jumper to select CF as
primary master, which is recommended by the SBC manufacturer. Drive
letter C:\
3) CDROM with XPE (first disk of XPE) and setup as primary slave. drive
letter D:\.

The device, when booting up with the above setting with boot sequence
D:\ then C:\ then A:\ does not run the XPE.

By the way I have performed an fdisk /mbr, format and bootprep on the
CF. I have also tried with two different CF.

My question is, what should I change or do to get an PMQ file with
above senario. Is there any thing, which I am missing.

Or simply how can I run tap.exe with the above senario.

Your comments and suggestion greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi mkr,

Let me make sure I understand your goal.... :) Are you trying to boot the
SBC to WinPE on XPe Disk1? Does the BIOS support booting from the CD-Rom?
Can you boot other bootable CD's from the CD-Rom?

Also, it's not imperative that you have the CF in the system when tap is run
so if it helps to take it out to get the CD booted that may work. You can
either save the PMQ to a network drive (if you have a nic supported by
WinPE), or you can save it to the floppy. (Something like tap /o
a:\devices.pmq)

Brad

Hi Brad,
Thanks for clearing the doubt. I have an image build with Windows logon
under infrastructure and explorer shell. While running the dependency
check, I had an error asking to load the file system such as FAT,
NTFS.... I went on to add NTFS.

Next, since the compact flash I am using is not fixed disk, I had to
enable EWF and followed the MS documentation to set the CF. I again did
an dependency check, and now there where 2 errors. first error was with
ACPI interface and EWF conflicts...... asking to disable NT Loader or
EWF NTLDR.

My question is, Should I build an image adding EWF NTLDR, EWF, EWF
Management console app. and make settings on EWF for CF initially. My
idea build an image with Windows logon and explorer shell same as our
desktop feel.

The documentation for setting an CF (non fixed disk) is very confusing
and scattered. Could have some to explain here on how to making an
setting on CF and about the file system

Thanks
