comp reboots as soon as it gets to log on screen

i'm working on a comp thats reboots just after it gets to the log on screen.
only way i can load windows is through safe mode. not sure what the prob
is?(hardware or software) i dont get any errors at all. win xp home sp1 on a
acer aspire 2.8ghz 256meg ram .win xp came with comp dont want to do a
reinstall unless need to.
any info would be a great help.

Try 'Last Known Good Configuration'. Failing that, try a System Restore via
Safe Mode.

tried those and still didnt work but went into msconfig and i think i i
tracked down the prob. i can now log on to comp with the services
MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM and MSSQLSeverADHelper turned off. i dont know what they
are or do, but it stopped the log on screen rebooting.
