Hibernation crashes laptop

Win XP SP3 on Acer Aspire 5100.

When I try and hibernate the laptop manually, I get a blue screen saying
something about a physical core dump.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I changed my autologon setup yesterday, and manual hibernation seems to
work as 'advertised' now

I don't have case-iron evidence that my autologon setup was causing the
hibernation crashes, bit this certainly appears to be the case.

Previously the laptop would boot up with my wife's profile set to
autologon, so that I had to log her out (or switch user) and log on
myself to use the laptop with my own profile. With this setup, manual
hibernation (and indeed automatic, time-based hibernation, IIRC)
consistently crashed the laptop.

Having now disabled autologon (which I decided is preferable anyway),
hibernation seems to work properly.
