Comp. died...I think..need help please.

Recently my other comp started having problems during
startup and now it wont start up. It started with the
mouse and monitor and keyboard not activating on startup..
and now it wont start at all. When I turn it on it starts
the disk drives(cd drive,cd burner)and I can hear the
normal hum of the main drive... but after the drives start
it just starts beeping every minute or so and does nothing
else. Can this be fixed? Like maybe using a boot disk or a
win recovery cd? If anyone can help me fix this it would
be great.. as I cant afford to take it to a repair shop.

Any help is appreciated,
Remy

The comp in question is a P4 running XP Home SP1.

The beeping is the motherboard reporting a problem. The sequence beeps tells
you what the problem is. To decode the beeps, you'd need to find the manual
for the motherboard and it will tell you what their particular code is.

This isn't a software problem, so your disks won't do you any good.

I dont think decoding one beep every 30 seconds or so is
whats gonna help.... it's just a beep... no sequence...
just a beep.

So that's what you need to find out. They aren't like morse code where you
get messages-- they're just things like a short beep, a long beep, two
beeps, etc.
