communications port

There are no devices connected to my Com1 port on my
windows 2000 server but something is keeping the port
open. How can i find out what is doing this?

try disabling the com port in device manager... force whatever application
it is to generate an error message.
If no error message, doesn't matter anyway, because you're not using the
com1 port anyway.

The culprit may be some sort of PDA sync software like the Palm
HotSync manager or Microsoft ActiveSync.
