Common Thread with FAILED INSTALL,

Hello.

I have seen a common thread with installs that I experenced myself. Failure
of install with nVidia GeForce Video Cards. I am not saying that there is
anything wrong with the cards but the beta drivers from nVidia completely
messed up my system, and I had to boot to safe mode to remove the nVidia beta
video driver and run the Win Drivers.

I also had a problem with a HP DVD (HP DVD Writer 740e PATA) drive to the
point that the install would simply stop and then the dreaded error of "
can't find files to complete install" (paraphrased) what I did to to obtain
an install without problems was:

(past tense as I am installed) install XP SP2 on a PATA drive (SATA would
not seem to work even with xp SATA drivers loaded with install of RC1) then
copy the RC1 to a folder on the xp system , then do a windows install (open
the folder and start with the setup program).

I was able to do a upgrade with RC2 over the RC1 later when RC2 came out. I
also run Office 2007 Beta 2 and (the updated version) but not the B2TR (beta
2 Technical refresh) that completely hosed the Outlook data files, but on
removal of the B2TR and an reinstall of beta 2 (no TR) in the same folders I
had everything back. (outlook for some reason did an admin lock on the links
and attachments on any email that I had and would not open, back to the
original beta 2 office and everything works)

weird

quite complexe but everything is working very well and no problems.

I would hope that MS reads this and would look into these problems

RC2 installed for me but was a nightmare with screen resolution (Nvidia card
but with Vista drivers) I have an ASUS mobo with SATA drives but not raid I
was disappointed as the install (clean) went perfectly throughout the process
seemed to be fine until the next day when even typing was painful.

RC1 is running fine although I will be puzzled when in RTM how a real copy
would install on this computer if I wanted it to. Only hope the ASUS mobo on
my actual computer will be stable with Vista. I will be upgrading the grapics
card and now I wonder if my normal choice of Nvidia is a wise one.
