command prompt

need that command for scanning files and restoring them i did it once and it took care of the problem but forgot the command but if anyone knows i would appreciate it if they filled me in. thanks.

You can get to a command prompt by typing the following from Start>Run

cmd

and hitting OK. Is what you are asking?

Place the Win XP CD in the CD drive.
When Autoplay starts just click the X and close it.
Click Start button, select Run and type in “sfc /scannow†without the quotes and
the system should scan for missing/corrupt MS OS files and replace them with the
originals found on the disk.
