Command.com can't get no...EMS

It is my understanding, that as long as you start
command.com, and it inherits its default EMS (Auto)
properties from _default shortcut, that the command prompt
will have EMS memory.

In fact, I have one machine where XP was installed, EMS
support was working, and then after XP reinstall due to
Blaster infection, EMS support stopped working.

I have found EMS support to be unavailable on several
WIN2K and XP machines. I am wondering if some other
setting may be preventing EMS support, like security
policy?

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Dave

Make a Shortcut to Command.com on the desktop and check the properties
to see what EMS is set to.

IIRC you need to "run" some program that needs EMS before you would have
something other than "none" in Auto. So set an amount of EMS to use instead.
