Hi,
we have a software that communicate via Comm port 1.
witht 9600,8,n,1 settings.
Under windows xp the prgram is not communicating with the
main computer. On the same computer with windows 98 it is
working fine.
I checked the comm port settings in windows xp and
everything is okay, but in the command prompt when
using "mode" command I see that the settings for comm
port are not the same settings that I have in windows.

Any suggestion is welkome.

thanks

There are huge differences in using COM ports between WinXP and Win98. I
would expect you would need to get updated program that was designed to work
in WinXP.

Have you tried setting the communication parameters with the MODE
command in your DOS window?
You should be able to use a DOS based serial communications program in
any version of Windows however you may need to set the communications
parameters with the Mode command first.
