Have you checked APC for updated XP useable drivers?
Most of the newer UPS systems I've seen use USB so your
serial DB-9 (?) port may not work with XP.
APC site lists USB only for the XP OS, that I found with a
quick search. Perhaps you'll find something. I did not see
any XP software for your nasic model. You might say the
exact model.

| I installed an APC Backup-UPS Pro. I can not seem to get
| my computer to communicate with it. I have tried both
| serial ports and changed the port settings in the Power
| Options UPS Select.
| I have never had a need to use the serials ports on this
| computer until now. Under System Properties Hardware
| Device Manager it shows both comm ports to be working
| properly.
| Is there a way to test these ports?
