comctl32.dll

Hello,
We have a strange problem with a small application called MacPac that is
crashing for a user whenever he clicks on a button associated with this
program. I think the problem is coming from comctl32.ocx but I'm not sure.
It says that this file or one of its dependencies is not correctly
registered, missing or invalid. The odd things about the problem are:
-This is a system 32 file and it only happens when he's logged into his
computer. If someone else logs in, the problem goes away. But there have
also been times when he logs in and he doesn't get the error.
-We reregistered his fonts and the problem went away for about a week.
-I found a file in his
HKey_Current_User\software\microsoft\shellnoroam\MUICache that was associated
with the application that is failing, deleted it and the application worked
for about two weeks before it failed.
-Sometimes if I log in as him to my own PC, the application fails.
Sometimes it doesn't. The most consistent error I get is the comctl.ocx
error.
-I made him a domain admin. and he still gets the error.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Hello again,
I should also mention that this error occurs within Word 2003 sp2, when
clicking on a button for a toolbar for this application (called MacPac). I
also get the error: Runtime error 429 - ActiveX component can't create object.

Thank you.
