COM+ Event System Won't Start

I have a Windows 2000 with SP4 and can't run Windows Update on it. It turned
out that the COM+ Event System is refusing to start with the following
error:

Could net start COM+ Event System service on Local Computer.
Error 1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in
does not implement the service.

In the event log I get the following error:

System Log...
Event ID: 7000
Source: Service Control Manager
Description:
The COM+ Event System service failed to start due to the following error:
The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not
implement the service.

Application Log...
Event ID: 4097
Source: EventSystem
Description:
The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was 8007043B from line 42 of .\eventsystemobj.cpp.
Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

Any idea what could be causing this errors or why the service won't start?

Thanks,

Appearntly the following registry key got modified and didn't have the right
values. I

Exported this registry from a functional server and imported it to the
server with the issue after backing up the key.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Svchost]
