columns trouble

When I apply columns, it applies columns to the selected text and inserts a
new page. (Word 2003).

Please help¡ :((

Insert a new section on the same page then set your columns for that
section.

Thank you very much, ... but it doesn´t work. I belive that trouble is the
end of page note. :)
