Columns in Word 2010 question

I have copied and pasted some text from a web page into Word 2010, but
when I try to convert it to two columns, one column appears on the left
with the rest of the text hidden. What am I doing wrong or is this just
not possible?

The text you copied may have been in a table cell with a fixed width, which
explains why it doesn't reformat correctly.

Try pasting as plain text and see if it makes a difference (Home tab | Paste
| Paste Special: "Unformatted Text").
