Column headings on an import

I have a user that is trying to import spreadsheets created in Excel 2003 to
Access XP (2002) SP3.

On the forth page of the import wizard you can change your column headings.
When trying to import these spreadsheets she can only change the heading on
the first column. She can click other columns but if she tries to change the
heading it changes the first column.

I found a knowledgebase article (KB837003) that describes this exact issue
occuring in Access 2003 and says it was fixed with SP1 for Office 2003.

I can't find any mention of this occuring with Office XP.

I have made sure that all of her updates are current.

Does anyone know of a fix for this problem for Office XP?

Thanks.

For clarity,

The files that she's trying to import were exported from Excel as fixed
width text documents.

This is a known issue for ACCESS 2002 SP3. This issue is described in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;875252

There is a Hotfix available from Microsoft Technical Support for this
problem. Description of the Access 2002 post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;841365

There also is a HotFix for ACCESS 2003 SP1 for similar issue.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the link. I must have spent over an hour searching but couldn't
find it. For my next question, is there any way I can download the hot fix
without paying Microsoft $99 for the pleasure? Your links both link to ways
to contact Microsoft support (for a fee) to get the hot fix.

Thanks again.

Ken,

Disregard the last. After spending 20 minutes on the phone and getting
bounced three times and finally escalating the call I got someone to send me
the hotfix.

It would be much easier if Microsoft just had the file available for
download...

Thanks again.

Glad you got the fix. I guess the reason the file isn't posted is because MS
is concerned that it might break something else, and doesn't want people
downloading it unless it's really needed to fix the problem.
