Do I need two printers if I buy a photo printer for my digital camera, I
have an epson stylus 600 which needs replacing and a digital camera which
will need a printer for the photo prints, will one machine do both ? any
recommendations ?
Thanks in advance.

No, of course not - just don't buy an Epson (or an HP or Lexmark for that
matter! HPs because, well their support is rubbish, Epsons because they clog
(and I don't care what anyone says, my ESP895 clogged overnight) and Lexmark
because the media/ink is a complete rip-off). I have an Canon i9100 (big
brother to the i950) which produces impressive results on bog standard Data
Copy A4. The text is crisp and clear - even in Economy (Draft) mode. It also
has separate cartridges which saves waste and, so I'm told (I've not had the
nerve to try it yet!) they are easily refilled.

I'm a convert - I'll never buy anything else!

I have an Epson 900 with dye ink---used for snaps and utility
printing.

I also have an Epson 1280 set up with (MIS) archvial pigment ink.
This is for the "keeper" photos.

You can of course do everything with one printer---my 1280 was the
only printer for 2 years

The cost, however, is in the ink, not the printer. If you have a
"photo' printer and want to add a utility printer, you can do that for
~$50

One machine will do both. I love my Epsons and haven't had any problems
with them. I would recommend also looking at the C84. It does great text
on plain paper, is waterproof on plain paper, and many people use it for
their photos.

You might want to take a look at a Canon i560. It is a great printer. The
quality just about matches that of the i960 for photos and text. Sams Club
has them as an i560s, which comes with a USB cable, but does not qualify for
any rebates. They are selling for $89.00. When you figure that a USB cable
costs about $20.00, you get the printer for $69.00. That's quite a bargan
for such a great printer. Check the reviews.
This comes from an ex Ebson die hard.
