Our old hard drive was fried, and replaced under
warranty. after we had it all set up I get a message
that says no active mixer devices are available or
something like that. I Go in to add hardware and the
wizard gives me a "code 28"....... where can I find a
patch I may need or what do I do?

i think this is your problem here ->
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;283783

theres no fix though in that article, so find out which
sound card you have and go to the manufacturers website
then download the drivers from their support section. see
if they help. you could always try an internet search for
XP WDM drivers

IF YOU ARE USING XP WHAT YUO HAVE TO DO IS REISNTALL
WINDOWS XP AGAIN THAT HAPEN TO ME

Read the post: " after we had it all set up..." I takle this to mean that
the XP was re-installed correctly on the new hard drive.

Depending on the hardware you are using for sound, delete it from Device
Manager and reboot the XP. It should detect it correctly after the reboot.

If not, you should look for the updated sound card drivers for your sound
card.
