Code 19 with CD-ROM

Help!

We have a PC in the office that is getting a yellow exclamation point error
on the CD-ROM drive. When we go into the properties, it says CODE 19 -
REGISTRY POSSIBLY CORRUPT.

Troubleshooting so far:
Uninstalled the driver (in device manager), reboot, it loads it back. Same
Problem.
Uninstalled the driver (in device manager), shut down, unhooked drive,
rebooted normally. Shut down again, hooked drive back up, start up machine,
it loads it back. Same Problem.

It does find the name of the drive but always gives us code 19. Suggestions?

Thanks,
Brian

That is a good question...this all started when he tried to load drives for
an older USB CD-RW. When this happened, he lost access to his main drive. So
we removed the drive and its drivers and he still gets CODE 19 on this
drive.

Will check out your link too!

Be careful with these upper/lower filters! You could lock yourself out
of the workstation if you delete the wrong ones! Have a contigency plan
in case things go wrong. Make an ERD disk and back up the registry
before you begin. Make sure that your Windows 2000 cd is close at hand
at back up files you don't want to lose!

I removed the Upper and Lower, rebooted and it works like a charm!

Thanks for the link!
