hi new here and desperately need help

i tried to install a x-fi soundcard yesterday to replace an old sb live value
when i rebooted i got a code 12 error insufficient resource affecting my graphics card NVIDIA 7600 GT AGP.
windows used a VGASAVE to display in 640x480 in 4 bits colour ( on a 22" tft - )

the soundcard does work so its not faulty

i remove the x-fi and replace with old card no problem!

tried to follow the troubleshooting advice about finding the conflicting resources but i cannot find anywhere that says conflict

any ideas? the x-fi really sounds great so would hate to return it

would updating my bios help?

my system
Medion
P4 3 Mhz
1GB memory
320 HD
NVIDIA 7600GT AGP

thanks in advance

I presume we are talking about XP here?

Because X-fi has a lot of conflicts in Vista.

Could be a motherboard compatability problem then.

You know what your motherboard is?

I wonder if thats the infamous IRQ conflicts that plagues the X-FI on some systems.... Have you tried it in another PCI slot?

hi

its a MSI MS-6747
its used by medion as an OEM

i did managed to get an updated BIOS from the Medion website but when tried to extract to the floppy it said insufficient disk space which is not true as after i extract it to a HD folder i was able to copy it to the floppy but when tried to start the PC with the floppy it said nonsystem disk...i suppose i need to find a way to extract the file directly to the floppy ....will try at work monday as one of the PC still ha s a floppy drive

and yes i did move it to anothe PCI slot still no good

i am hoping updating the BIOS will help but can't believe i cannot extract it to the floppy direct ! any idea why? it is definitely not due to file size as its only around 556KB after extraction to the HD

thanks for all your thought..keep it coming
