Soundblaster X-Fi Problem

I am currently having problems with my soundblaster X-fi card. It is
producing a lot of static and distortion out of my speakers. The issues are
random, but eventually end up as constant static if I use the system for more
then 1 hour at a time. I have tried multiple methods to solve the issue but
to no avail.

My system is as follows:
Intel E6600 processor
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA 7600GT
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Motherboard
Creative Soundblaster X-Fi
WinXP Media Center Edition 2005


I have isolated the static to the signal coming out of the soundcard
(headphones produce same result, so speakers aren't the issue). I have
tried switching PCI slots, but the results are no different. The on board
audio on my motherboard is disabled, and the driver was never installed.

Creative Labs tech support says it is most likely an IRQ issue. Device
manager shows no conflicts. My soundcard is on IRQ 19 which is shared with
my motherboards RAID controller, PCI-E hub, SATA controller, and a USB Host
controller. The IRQ is no editable in windows (as far as I can tell), and
any changes to the IRQ in the BIOS is ignored by windows.

Tech support for my motherboard says its an O/S issue, so here I am.

If anyone can help me with the IRQ issue, or can suggest something else I
could be doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated.

Try uninstalling the card in device mgr (all shown,w/o restarting pc),exit
when thru,install the chipset installation utility for youre board from the
mfg
web (intel,etc),once thru,shutdown pc,move card to other pci slot,restart pc.
If trouble still exists,go to run,typeXDIAG Run Direct X tests..
