I'm very new to the computer and see that a lot of things can be done using
cmd. I was wondering what all the different things I can do are and how do I
go about doing them, and when if ever should I do them.

Use Vista's Help and Support: search for "Command Prompt".

Hi,

There is a huge library of things that can be done from the command prompt,
far too many to list here. In fact, one could write a small book on it. Type
HELP for the basic commands. There is also the MSDN library, because nearly
everything you can do through the GUI can also be done via the command line.

When should you? When the graphical interface is not available or is not
capable of handling specific parameters.

I really opened up a can of worms with this one huh. I saw somebody mention
things like "sfc/scannow" and thought there could be some useful stuff that I
might want to learn how to do but I didn't think there was this much you can
do. I plan on trying to learn about it little by little and if anybody can
think of anything that might be useful let me know.
