Closing shares

Under windows 2000 professional, in the computer management > shared folders
section all my drives are listed as being shared for administrative
purposes. I understand that I can stop these shares by stopping the Server
service. However, I seem to remember a registry setting (I think) that
prevented all but purposely shared folders from being listed without
disabling the Server service. Does anyone know what that configuration
setting / possible registry setting was. I just don't want "admin" folders
shared (I am admin), except for ones that I personally set.

Thanks.

To remove administrative shares;
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Set the Reg_Dword value of
"AutoShareWks"=0
If it doesn't exist, ADD it.

Fantastic - thanks very much - however, this still leaves IPC$ (Remote IPC)
open - how do I shut that down with a registry tweak?

Why not just stop the server service aka "File and Printer Sharing"?

Well I still want the shares I specifically set to still be shared, I just
get anxious that those admin shares aren't really all that secure as it
could be - i.e., they shouldn't even be there. I just want a list of those
shares I've taken the trouble to share myself, not disable all file and
printer sharing.
