Closing Outlook

When I close Outlook 2000, sometimes it still runs in the background (I
checked with Cntl-Alt-Del). I have XP. Is this some kind of outside source
problem? And, how do I close it each time for good, until I open it again?
Thanks so much.

Do you use an addin or utility (like msn search) that accesses outlook's
data or active sync?

Thanks for responding. No, I'm not using any of that.
