When I close outlook using file>exit and restart my computer outlook opens
with a warning "personal folders did not close properly". The program then
goes into a lengthy check mode. Any thoughts?

Is the PST file on a local hard drive or network drive? PST files located
on network drives are not supported by Microsoft even though they do give
the option to create/use them from there.

Do you have any 3rd party applications installed that integrate or use
Outlook data that might prohibit Outlook from closing? (e.g. WinFax,
ActiveSync, .etc)

The oulook data file is stored locally but the backup files are on a networ.
I am running WinFax 10.0.
