When I close a document, I want a new blank document to automatically appear.
How to I have this feature changed, as is I have to select a new blank
document each time.

This would be far more trouble than it is worth IMO. You could do it with a
macro that intercepted the document close command. A problem is that at some
point you do want to stop using Word and close without opening a new
document.

There is not a simple switch to do this.

Thanks Charles, it does sound far more trouble than it's worth. However, I
will give it a try!
