Closing a Bank Account

So how difficult is it to close a bank account?
Well I thought go in to high street bank and do it their & then?
But no you have to do it online!
But as I had forgotten my 16 digit personal ID, I could not.
It has taken numerous emails to said bank to get it closed.
Finally I have closed it my complaining that i could not close it!

Oh and I know your wondering how much I had in the account?

I know your frustation.

I had a bank account I had opened a while ago. I knew there was £8.30 in the account, but when I went into the bank I was told they don't make counter withdrawls for less than £30

The onlyway I could get the money out was either pay in £1.70 or close the account. I chose to clse the account as I hardly used it, and thought it would be quick and easy. How wrong I was. Said bank wanted proof of ID, proof of statements, proof of address beofre they could close it.
Funny though 10 minutes before if I had had more than £ 30 and made a counter withdrawl I could of done it all without any proof of anything
